Celebrate My 4-Year-Blogiversary: Paperback Giveaway + Hashtag Game Announcement!

I'm not sure which is more impressive: The fact that, as of today, I've been running this blog for 4 years or that fact that so many of you have stuck around for this long. I'm going to go with the latter because I'm me, so I'm used to living inside my own head. You, however, are not, yet none of my posts have weirded you out or OD'd you on nerd references, which is really saying something. So I guess that means you're just as sane as I am, which should make you feel very, very afraid, but also incredibly proud.

In honor of your Hufflepuff-like loyalty, I am writing this post just for you. Your continued support blows me away and I cannot thank you enough.

But, that being said, I will at least attempt to express my eternal gratefulness.
Title of blog post above an image of a woman with blue hair (Hannah Heath) sitting at a desk, typing at her blog.

Which is why, today, I am holding my first ever giveaway.

*throws confetti in the shape of Batman-symbols because, let's be honest: That is the only shape that confetti should actually be*

What am I giving away, exactly? Well, I'm kind of sad you asked that because it means you clearly aren't paying attention to the giant box above this text, but okay. Fine. I'll tell you:

I'm giving away a paperback copy of Skies of Dripping Gold or Colors of Fear (the winner gets to choose which one they want). There will be two winners aaaaand

*drum roll*

These copies will be signed.* By me. Which means one day you will be able to sell them for millions of dollars, but you won't because you'll be so proud to own a signed story by your favorite human that you won't want to part from your copy.

Or something like that. Maybe.

  • *Side note: Because of shipping costs, the signed portion of this giveaway is for US addresses only. However, if you live outside of the US and win, I'm 99% sure I can still ship you an unsigned copy of either of my short stories without selling my soul to the shipping gods. But we'll cross that bridge if/when we come to it. Thanks for bearing with me.

Aaaaanyhow, go ahead and enter the giveaway! And share it online and via email with all your people so that I can grow my army, take over the world, and put a Batman-themed library on every street corner they can join in on the fun! This giveaway is open for 2 whole weeks, so let's get sharing.

Now, obviously, this is not the only good news coming your way today. This is a blogiversary, after all. Go big or go home.

Good news number two is:

I'm co-hosting a hashtag game on twitter and it starts today!

Woohoo! *throws more Batman-symbol-shaped confetti*

What? You're not on twitter? Well, that's unfortunate. Go make a twitter account and then come celebrate with me.

This game is under the hashtag #WIPFinds and I am hosting it with friend, indie author, and fellow Phoenix Fiction Writer K.L.+Pierce. She's amazing, so go say hello to her on her website and follow her on twitter.

The hashtag game is simple. Each Sunday, K.L.+Pierce and I will tweet a new prompt using the #WIPFinds hashtag. The theme of each prompt will have something to do with things you discover as you write your WIP and will come along with a healthy dose of writer positivity. Today's prompt is:

That's right. Each week you also have the option to answer as either yourself or one of your characters (or, if you're into bending the rules like I am: Both). It's going to be so much fun, so follow me and K.L.+Pierce on twitter, check out the hashtag here, and post your response! I'm excited to hear from you all.

And that's all the news I have for you today.

But I do have some comments:

To modify Bilbo's saying: I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like all of you just as much as you deserve. Which still sounds vaguely threatening, but, seriously: I am so grateful to you. Thank you for always reading, sharing, and commenting. You make an already-fun project a million times more enjoyable.

But you know what would make it more fun? *stares directly at you* You. Right there. You could make things way, way cooler if you would come say hello. Seriously. I know you're reading this, but you've rarely/never leave comments and I don't know who you are. I want to be your friend. Why are you hiding from me?? Say hi! No pressure or anything, but I'd love to get to know you, so please comment below and tell me a bit about yourself!

And to my regular commenters: I see you. I appreciate you. You are amazing and I would shower you with millions of books if I could.

Also, while I have you here, I may as well ask: What are some things you'd like to see from this blog in the future? Do you have suggestions, topics you'd like covered, ideas for my Youtube channel, or anything else you'd like to mention? Let me know! I always appreciate input.

Okay. I'll stop typing now. Before you head off, let's celebrate with a piece of pie:

And here's some cake for all of you lame people who think that cake is better than pie:

Thank you all for an amazing 4 years. I can't wait to see what the next year brings.

  2. Happy blogiversary! Good luck building your army, taking over the world, and putting a Batman-themed library on every street corner. What do you think your rule will look like. You know, so I can prepare appropriately. ;)
The hashtag looks like it's going to be super fun! I'll definitely be following it. :)

    1. Haha! Thank you! My rule will be very benevolent. Unless somebody returns a book late or speak badly about Batman or the indie author community, in which case: People will end up in solitary for 42 days (solitary being a room without books). Plan accordingly.

So excited you'll be following the tag! Thanks for the comment!

    2. That sounds like a fitting punishment. I'll be sure to not speak badly about Batman (the one thing on that list I might have trouble with). I don't dislike him too badly, so it shouldn't be terribly difficult. ;D

  10. Wow!! Happy Blogiversary Hannah! 8D Congrats on 4 years of being amazing...like Batman. >:3
I feel a little called out by the ending there, what with my not interacting with any blogs in forever. ^^;; Hello again~ I am here to comment once more on your awesomeness! ^-^

(P.S. I feel I should probably tell you: I accidentally clicked that I wanted to subscribe to your podcast for an extra giveaway entry, not realizing it was on iTunes so I don't think I actually can, and the raffle counter seems to have counted that as an extra entry despite my failure to finish subscribing. I'm not sure how to undo it and I don't feel like that's fair, so if there's any way you can take that extra entry out I hope you do. >.<)

  11. I've been hiding from you because it's difficult for me to put my thoughts and feelings into words that humans can understand.
Plus I don't know jack about technology and only just now learned that there are comments here.
Also how dare you call me out like that XP
